How to get there : From Surat Thani, take
the express boat of Songserm Travel leaving Thathong
Port in the morning (transportation from the train
station and the bus terminal is provided) to stop
at Koh Samui before continuing to Koh Pha Ngan.
The journey takes about 3.45 hours. From Koh Samui,
take the boat at Na Thon Port. The trip takes
about 45 minutes. Foreign tourists usually hire
motorcycles to tour round the island. Some parts
of the road are of laterite, so the riders should
be very careful. Also, there is a minibus service
to the beaches as well.
Most tourists know Koh Pha Ngan for the joyful
full-moon party held every full-moon night. In
fact Koh Pha Ngan is not outstanding for only
this party, but for the beauty of nature which
is suitable for all skin diving, scuba diving
and trekking.
There are 3 popular beaches on Koh Pha Ngan, those
are Haad Rin, Haad Thong Nai Pan and Haad Mae
Haad. Nevertheless, there are still many other
beaches which may not be very famous but may be
more satisfactory than the popular ones.

Thong Sala Port : Situated in the west
of Koh Pha Ngan, Thong Sala Port is the major
port and thus is gateway to the island, so wherever
you go, you have to start and finish your trip
here. Here, you may also find banks, hotels, bungalows,
restaurants, boutiques, souvenir shops, internet
cafes, etc.
Haad Ban Tai : Haad Ban Tai is 2 kilometers
from Thong Sala Port. The beautiful and unspoiled
beach is very long and slightly slopes into the
sea. So, it is a very nice spot for swimming.
From the beach, you can also watch spectacular
scenery of sunset.Haad Ban Tai is the largest
coconut producer of Koh Pha Ngan. A small Muslim
village and its mosque (the only sacred Muslim
building at Kon Pha Ngan) are located on the beach
Haad Rin : Haad Rin is like a cape at
the south of the island. It atually, comprises
two beaches ; Haad Rin Nok and Haad Rin Nai.
Haad Rin Nai : is a 1,000-meter-long beach.
The sand is vry powdery and the sea is colorful.
Swimming is possible along the beach. Since Haad
Rin Nai is fulled with shops, tour counters and
restaurants, it is the heart of Haad Rin.
Had Rin Nok : is in the shape of semicircle.
It is more beautiful than Had Rin Nai and is the
site of Full Moon Party. Thai people for foreign
tourists hold this merry-making together, and
that night the moon will make sandy beach much
more powdery than usual.
Be careful : As a concrete road between Haad Ban
Tai and Haad Rin is steep, you should be very
careful while driving.
Haad Thong Nai Pan : Haad Thong Nai Pan
consists of two beaches : Haad Thong Nai Pan Yai
and Haad Thong Nai Pan Noi.
Haad Thong Nai Pan Yai : is outstanding
with its own carved shape. The beach is white
and and safe for swimming. From here, you can
go further to Koh Ma and Haad Mae Haad for diving.
Beyond Haad Thong Nai Pan Yai is Haad Thong Nai
Pan Noi. They are separated by the mountain hill.
The beach here is powdery and quiet. The outstanding
feature of it is the concrete bridge that extends
through the mangrove forest of Pan Wiman Resort
and the resort's magnificent view spot.
Haad Chaloke Lam : Situated in the north
of Koh Pha Ngan, Haad Chaloke Lam is 15 kilometers
from Thong Sala Port. In old days, Haad Chaloke
Lam waw crowded with fishing boats, because it
was a great shelter when the storm took place.
At present, the beach becomes more famous for
dried squid, one of the most delicious squid of
Thailand. Visitors like to buy this souvenir.
As it is the producer of dried squid, swimming
here is not a good idea. However, it is nice to
see the local people's lifestyle and buy some
souvenir.
Haad Mae Haad : Haad Mae Haad is charming
with is long powdery sandy beach which is lon
g powdery sandy beach which is safe for swimming.
The interesting thing about this beach is its
neighbouring island, Koh Ma. They are connected
by sandbar so you can visit Koh Ma by walking.
Koh Ma is in the embrace of splendid coral reef.
As a result, a lot of tourists love to swim and
dive around this island.
